Are you passionate about improving happiness around the world through research, advocacy, and grantmaking? We’re looking for dedicated individuals to join our board and amplify our work to increase global wellbeing. 

As a board member, you’ll play a pivotal role in shaping the strategic direction of our organisation. We value diversity and welcome applicants from all backgrounds who share our commitment to creating positive change.

What we do

At the Happier Lives Institute, we research the most cost-effective ways to improve wellbeing, then work with donors, academics and policy-makers to help them have a bigger impact.  Using the latest subjective wellbeing data, we identify the problems that matter most to people and find evidence-based ways to solve them. At the end of 2023, we launched the Bloom Wellbeing Fund and began our grantmaking efforts.

Responsibilities

• Quarterly or bi-annual board meetings with Co-Directors Dr Michael Plant and Peter Brietbart.
• Input on HLI’s strategic direction, including our research agenda and wider value proposition.
• Review and governance of grantmaking activities.
• Assisting the Co-Directors with fundraising activities and networking efforts.
